Thanks for coming back to our website! It feels good to get things going again after a break during COVID. Hopefully you will come back and check out our little blog regularly in order to stay informed about what your son/daughter is up to in the Drum gymnasium.
One part of our program that students experience each time they come to PE is an opening routine. An opening routine is a 4-10 minute activity at the start of class that offers the students a chance to move, exercise, and meet the need/expectation of being active in the gym. This week, all classes completed a tabata-style line workout. A tabata-style workout is based on 20 seconds of work, followed by a short rest (10 seconds). Our students rotated through six different exercises for an effective six-minute workout.
Our 5th grade students continued to serve and return the birdie earlier this week and were then able to progress to team singles! They were very excited about this and put all of their badminton skills into practice. They will get another chance to play next week!
Our 6th and 7th graders participated in badminton team singles this week. Team singles requires teams of two to take turns winning a point for their team. It was great to see some of their game play and students seemed to really enjoy having the chance to compete against their peers.
