Welcome back to the site. We appreciate you being here!
Drum Wolves started a floor hockey unit this week! Students learned how to hold the sticks correctly and we spent a little time teaching them how to be responsible and safe whilst doing so. All 5th, 6th, and 7th grade students then learned how to pass/shoot using proper form. We plan to continue developing these skills throughout this short unit.
We recently sent an email out to parents and students which included an attached progress report for the third term. It is our hope that families will check the Skyward Family Access regularly in order to keep track of their student’s progress in PE. We will begin sending periodic updates from the gradebook.
Each year, the students at Drum are required to participate in the Fitnessgram Assessment (nationwide assessment). Last week, we introduced students to the push-up section of this assessment. We demonstrated proper form and encouraged all students to begin practicing their push-ups at home. Click here to access the video that we will use when assessing each class. Maybe even try it with your son/daughter! =)
Here is another handy video that demonstrates proper form and also highlights some common mistakes students make when doing push-ups. We know that this is a challenge, but the only expectation is that the students give their best effort while doing the push-ups with correct form.
Thanks again for stopping by and checking out the blog! We hope to see you back here soon!
