A little about mr. fisher
Thanks again for visiting the website. I do appreciate you being here! Let me give you a little background information about myself.
I have been teaching PE here at Drum since the 2009 school year. Prior to teaching in the gym, I was a 5th and 6th grade teacher at Drum and have taught Math, Science, Language Arts and Social Studies. Before moving to the University Place School District in 2001, I spent 2 years teaching 3rd and 4th grade in the Sumner School District and spent my first 2 years of teaching in 6th grade in the Bethel School District way back in 1997 and '98. All of the years I spent in the classroom were truly a blessing and gave me many of the tools I now have in my teaching belt as I teach PE. Having the ability to impact a whole student body, by teaching them the benefits and joys of physical activity, is a super unique, enjoyable and rewarding job. Getting to 'play every day' and bring to light the life lessons that can be learned from the games and experiences we have in the gym has been a ton of fun and I've loved the 14 years I've been able to do this. I was born in Georgia and moved to Pullman, Washington when I was 5 years old. After being raised in Pullman and spending 4 years at WAZZU (Washington State University - GO COUGS!), I followed the love of my life (Shannon) to the west side (she is a University Place native) where we ended up being married in 1999 and have settled and called home ever since. We have one daughter, Kensie (18) who is currently a freshman at Washington State University (GO COUGS!). |
my education
Outside of school
Outside of school, our family enjoys traveling, snow skiing, playing on the water and spending quality time together. One of my lifelong passions has been singing and I periodically help lead worship at our church. I really enjoy watching college football and have been a die hard Cougar fan since I was little and have also been a Georgia Bulldog fan my whole life (Back to back National Champs)! I spent a few years coaching Kensie's lacrosse and soccer teams when she was younger, enjoyed watching her compete as a cross country and track runner during high school and am now excited to follow the excitement of her journey as a college student.
