Hello Wolves,
We trust that you all had a wonderful first week of school and that rhythms and routines were reestablished as you progressed through the first 3 days of this new year. Mr. Skinner, Mr. Burd and Mr. Fisher really enjoyed seeing all of our students as they passed through the gym for their first PE class of the year and the three of us are excited about what's to come in the days and weeks ahead.
The students experienced their first 'opening routine' of the new year which included walking, running, skipping and side-sliding mixed in with various full body exercises. We introduced the importance of focusing on 'self' and working to give their best effort as they participated in the opening routine. Our whole group activity centered on social interaction and included a 'getting to know you' activity. A crucial part of our PE program, which is founded in the ability to interact socially and appropriately, is ensuring that students feel safe, included and valued while they are with us. We look forward to continuing this important work in developing an environment that is successful and positive for all of our PE classes.
The week ahead will include more 'opening routine' practice along with having our students participate in exciting cooperative group games which promise to be fun for all involved. If you've never seen a Hula-Hoop Castle before, check them out here, to catch a small glimpse of what is to come.
Wolves, have an awesome Labor Day weekend . . . and . . . the three of us, here in the Drum PE Department, would like to encourage you to get out and find ways to move your bodies and be as active as you can as you enjoy these four days.
Looking forward to seeing all of you next week.
