Welcome back Wolves! We hope that you had a restful and enjoyable spring break. We appreciate you taking the time to read our latest blog! As our Drum Wolves head into the fourth and final quarter of the school year, here are a few announcements from the gym:
Grades:
- All third quarter grades have been posted and a paper copy will be sent home on Friday, April 14th. You can also access them through Family Access on that date.
- As we head into the final stretch of the school year and work toward second term grades, here are a few common areas where students can sometimes lose points:
Throwing and Catching Unit:
We have started the 4th quarter with a mini-unit on throwing & catching. These are such fundamental skills in so many sports and games that we revisit them several times throughout the school year. This week's activity requires students to throw and catch with competency as their team moves items from one side of the gym to the other. As always, we incorporate as much movement as possible to ensure students are being active as they practice. Ask your student about how this game worked!
Fall Soccer in UP:
Registration for fall soccer just opened with University Place Soccer Club! UPSC offers rec soccer, with games starting in September and also has a handful of select soccer teams (try-out based). If your son or daughter is interested, check out their website and get signed up for some fun fall soccer!
Thanks again for stopping by! We do appreciate you being here!

- As we head into the final stretch of the school year and work toward second term grades, here are a few common areas where students can sometimes lose points:
- Chewing gum in class. This is not safe and students don't always dispose of it appropriately. Therefore, we have a zero gum policy in the gym. Luckily for them, we have a lovely garbage can in the gym that they can use when they enter class =)
- Wearing inappropriate footwear. Although Crocs and sandals may look super cool, they are not appropriate for the activities we do in PE as they do not offer the adequate amount of support. Closed-toed athletic-style shoes are ideal please.
- Not following directions. Rules for games are important. Procedures in the gym are equally important! Students are expected to play all of our games and activities by the rules (in order to avoid chaos and/or hurt feelings) and follow the procedures that we have had in place since September.
- Unsatisfactory effort put into activities. We ask that all of our students put forth their best effort regardless of their athletic ability. We are not trying to create and develop Olympic athletes in the gym, but we do encourage our students to work hard and give their best in everything that they do. These are good habits to form at an early age!
